Ex-WeWork CEO Adam Neumann eyes $45M penthouse on Park Avenue

Ousted WeWork CEO Adam Neumann and his wife, Rebekah, continued to scour the Upper East Side for a trophy pad even after they were rejected by posh Fifth Avenue co-ops.

They initially turned their gaze to exclusive buildings like 720 Park Ave., where residents include Barnes & Noble founder Leonard Riggio, former AllianceBernstein CEO Peter Kraus and Condé Nast parent company exec Mark Newhouse. Forbes now estimates Neumann’s net worth at around $600 million — down from $4.1 billion early this year.

“Adam showed up to one hoity-toity Upper East Side co-op in flip flops and ripped jeans; it did not go over well,” an insider tells Gimme Shelter. “He seemed to think anyone would want him. But they don’t care how much money you have. It’s never just about money on the Upper East Side.”

That’s when the pair turned to less snobby condos.

“They looked at every big, expensive apartment on the Upper East Side,” another source says.

One spot they expressed interest in was a $45 million duplex penthouse at 1010 Park Ave., sources tell Gimme Shelter. The home originally asked $50 million in 2017, according to StreetEasy.

The sprawling 6,745-square-foot pad in a newly built condominium — read: no co-op board approval necessary — comes with four bedrooms, 5½ bathrooms, a library with a bar and a terrace overlooking Park Avenue. Right now, there’s a “buyer incentive,” according to the listing, that the sponsor will even pay two years of common charges for deals signed before Thanksgiving. Other touches include a formal dining room and an entertaining room with ceilings more than 12 feet high.

Building amenities include a 50-foot heated saltwater pool, a gym, a circus-themed children’s playroom and a screening room. The listing brokers, Corcoran’s Hilary Landis and Beth Benalloul, declined to comment. Neumann’s attorney and publicist did not return requests for comment on his house hunt by press time.
