Brooklyn house listed for 50 times more than owners paid

A humble Ditmas Park house currently on the market for $1.99 million is notable for two reasons.

First, several episodes of “Rescue Me” were filmed in the two-family home at 260 Westminster Road in a neighborhood of historic Victorians. The FX dramedy, which aired from 2004 to 2011 and featured actor Denis Leary, centered on a group of New York City firefighters after Sept. 11.

A Long Island beach house featured in in the series is also on the market for $2.6 million.

Second, there’s a huge difference between the purchase price half a century ago and the current listing price.

The sellers are Marie Catapano and John Gambale, who bought 260 Westminster for around $40,000 in 1968, according to listing broker Aurora Maldonado, of Corcoran.

Altogether, the 3,473-square-foot property features 10 bedrooms, four bathrooms and a large backyard with a two-car garage and a private driveway.

The first floor has an indoor sun porch with wooden and stained glass details.

Prices continue to climb in Ditmas Park, where actress Michelle Williams once bought a home and where Audrey Gelman, co-founder of women-only workspace The Wing, and Ilan Zechory, co-founder of song-lyric-annotation startup Genius, just paid a neighborhood record of $3.2 million for their home.
