Real-life ‘Downton Abbey’ is now for rent on Airbnb

Consider it a royal invitation.

Highclere Castle — better known as the real-life Downton Abbey for its starring role in the hit TV series and feature film out Sept. 20 — will soon be available to the plebes via Airbnb.

For just $187 per night, two lucky travelers can score a stay in one of the castle’s stately bedrooms, boasting views over the 1,000-acre grounds — if they don’t faint in the drawing room first.

Get ready to browse, click and book fast: On Oct. 1 at noon, a reservation slot will open up for two guests to book one night’s stay for Nov. 26.

The ersatz lord and lady of the manor will be entertained by the real Earl and Countess of Carnarvon, who live at Highclere, at an exclusive evening of cocktails in the saloon followed by a traditional dinner in the dining room —waited on by the grand house’s actual butler, of course.

Naturally, tea and coffee in the library will follow dinner, where you can discuss the latest gossip among the help.

If that wasn’t enough to give you airs, the guests will be given a private tour of the 100,000-square-foot, 300-room country castle, which dates back to 1679.

And accordingly, the less nobly bred will be asked to follow a few house rules, including “all newspapers must be ironed,” “strictly one butler per person,” “cocktail dress is de rigueur for dinner,” “gossip restricted to downstairs quarters only,” according to the listing.

Airbnb guests must also leave their pampered pooches behind. Rest assured, though, the house is already home to nine friendly pups.

Note: Nov. 26 is a Tuesday, but to paraphrase one of Maggie Smith’s greatest lines as the aristocratic Dowager Countess, “What is a weekend, anyway?”
