The word “influencer” gets thrown around a lot, but Camila Coelho is in a stratosphere all on her own. The Brazilian beauty guru has 7.4 million fans on Instagram alone (for scale, that’s the entire population of Hong Kong…and more people than the entire country of Bulgaria) showering her with thousands of likes and comments. The latest project she has her followers excited about? Her very own lipstick collection with Lancôme, out now at sephora.com and in stores September 7. This is the beauty brand’s first-ever collaboration with a digital influencer.

Coelho worked with Lancôme global makeup creative director Lisa Eldridge to create 10 L’Absolu Rouge lipsticks, each paying homage to both her native country and her jetsetting lifestyle. Standouts include “Ipanema Sunrise” a peachy coral, “Copacabana” a deep berry red, “Parisian Nude” a neutral beige-pink, and “California Burgundy,” a rose hue. Naturally, Coelho made the lipsticks look photo-ready with the lipstick molded in a lip shape and the bullet in a red and gold click-open design. The lip shape, she says, harkens back to the first logo design from her blog that launched her career.
“The idea for this collaboration came about a yea rand a half ago. I was like, ‘Noo way.’ It’s a pinch-me moment. One thing that made me super happy and was really important about this collaboration is that it was a true collaboration,” she tells ELLE.com. “We worked together to make a product that looks very ‘Camila’ but very Lancome—the brand’s DNA with my touch.”
Ahead, Coelho fills us in on more of her coveted beauty secrets.
1. Skincare is everything.
“I’m not simple. I’m not lazy. I feel like taking care of my skin is number one. I really do the five or six-step routine: I’ll take off my makeup with a remover, then I’ll do face wash, sometimes a scrub after once a week to remove dead skin cells. I do toner, essence, serum, even a mask sometimes.”
2. Don’t skimp on your beauty routine when you travel.
“A lot of people have the attitude of, ‘When I’m traveling, I’m like ahh, I don’t bring anything,’ but I bring even more because that’s when your skin screams help. The plane, different weather—I love having spa moment everyday because I believe if you have good skin your makeup is only going to look even better.”

3. Always wear a lipstick—even just for the ‘gram.
“I love doing my own makeup. I could be simple some days with just concealer or a BB cream, I don’t always need eye makeup, but I always wear a lipstick. I always have some color. You will never see me on my Instagram stories without lipstick—even if it’s a tint or a balm.”
4. Keep evolving your beauty skills.
“Oh my god, my beauty routine has changed so much since I started YouTube. Techniques change. Before, I used to do very dark makeup, very bronzed skin, and I look back and think: What was I doing? Why didn’t I highlight my face? I would do a lot of colorful looks which is what got people’s attention at the time: mixed color smoky eyes. Today if I play with color, I’ll do more of a single-color shadow then mixing two or three.”
5. Ask the professionals for help.
“When I’m working with makeup artists, I’m looking and paying attention to what they’re doing. I’ve worked with Mary Phillips, Hung Vanngo, and even for hair with Jen Atkin I’m always paying attention and trying to do it myself. That’s why I started on YouTube, because I wanted girls to know how to do it themselves. Yes, it’s great to call and have someone do my makeup, my hair. But, it feels so good to be independent. I’m always learning new things, like I love doing matte finish foundation and I love liquid highlighter. I’ve learned that them together it’s not so good. My advice for people is when you have makeup done, always ask questions.”
6. Adapt your beauty look to your location.
“In each country that I go, I always get really inspired. When I’m in France, I want to be more natural, ‘French girl,’ I don’t know what they do. They’re beautiful and effortless, and when I’m there it inspires me to be more effortless. In Brazil, it’s a tropical country and you wear more colors because of the weather, and the sun. In California, you’re more relaxed, you can do color or not. Different places really inspired me to make the lipstick collection. I always get inspired when I see people on the street—New York is a great city for beauty. I stalk people, go after them and ask, ‘What is your lipstick?'”
7. Make time for the spa.
“I love spas. I get really tense. I’ve been to so many spas around the world. There was this one in London–Sanctuary Spa—it was the best massage I’ve had in my life. The masseuse only used her elbow and forearm to do the whole body. And on the face, she was contouring me. When I’m traveling, I try to do it. I try to go before fashion week or after. I have a problem, though—I’m a workaholic. Maybe I’ll go once every two months.”
8. Change your makeup when the seasons change.
“For fall, I love more glowy skin, a bold lip, and a little cateye or lots of mascara on the eye. I love light burgundy or burgundy-reds.”
9. Stay inspired by other beauty experts.
“Makeup artists I love are Hung Vanngo and Mary Phillips—they do such an amazing job. I love when they do makeup on me. I’d love to mention Jen Atkin because she’s such a pro at hair and I love her as a person. For influencers, I love Desi Perkins. She does an amazing job at makeup and on YouTube, she explains it very deeply. Marianna Hewitt also talks about beauty, I love her. And Carli Bybel! She’s so beautiful.”
