Kim Kardashian West and Donald Trump Met in the Oval Office to Talk About Prison Reform

Wow, the end of the world looks so much different than I thought it would.

Trump was finally able to secure a meeting with a Kim and it seems like this one probably won’t result in nuclear war. Looking like an Annie Leibovitz American Gothic-themed photo shoot, the president and Donald Trump posed in the Oval Office together. In a photo eagerly tweeted out from Trump’s account, Kim Kardashian West looks stoic and leader-like standing next to the lesser reality star, who is grinning like a fan who paid for the meet-and-greet at the KKW fragrance release event.

The two former Gossip Girl guest stars posed in the Oval Office behind Trump’s hilariously work-free desk. No photographer was listed for the photo so I’m going to assume credit belongs to Ambien.

Kim KW becomes the second person in her family to meet with Trump on official business. Her husband, Kanye, famously met with Trump at the beginning of the current apocalypse and was given a souvenir hat for his trouble like a vacationer at Busch Gardens.

It’s unclear whether the president will appear on next season’s Keeping Up With the Kardashians but, honestly, I would not mind if this family continued to advise the reality TV-obsessed president. Next week Tristan Thompson is scheduled to brief the president on cyber security. Trump could do worse than getting guidance from the Kardashian dynasty. Nothing leaks out of that house unless Kris says so and all of them can run a successful business, something the president is still getting the hang of. Also, nobody in this family has any problems with Stormi.

Kim KW was meeting with the president and Jared Kushner (remember that guy?) to discuss prison reform, a cause that has been heavy on her heart recently. She tweeted that the day was dedicated to Alice Marie Johnson, a 63-year-old grandmother who is serving life without parole for a non-violent offense.

Kushner is the administration’s point person on the First Step Act, a bill that’s meant to expands incarcerated people’s access to programs in an attempt to curb recidivism. It recently passed the House but has run into issues in the Senate. It’s unclear what Kardashian West’s position is on the Act.

The White House gave no indication as to whether Trump will enact any of the reforms Kim Kardashian West suggested or whether he will continue to let Jeff Sessions run rough-shod over civil liberties, funneling Americans into private prisons despite the decline in inmate populations, and restarting the war on drugs (when used by certain races of people).

Be honest, this meeting between one of the most powerful people on the planet and also Donald Trump makes perfect sense, doesn’t it? Irrespective of Kim’s desire to enact change, which seems genuine, an Oval Office meeting between two rich reality stars is the least surprising thing to happen in 2018. It’s a wonder the office hasn’t been outfitted with six cameras and an Applause sign and sponsored by Monster Energy Drink at this point.

Anyway, congratulations to Kim Kardashian West who is somehow able to tolerate conversations with both Kanye and Donald Trump. Best of luck in all your future endeavors and blink twice if you need help.

Speaking of which, I can’t write any more about the Oval Office KKW Fragrance Launch because I’ve got to get back to working overtime on my theory that they are recasting Melania.

Maybe they should give Sarah Chalke, the second Becky from Roseanne, a call. She’s got time now.
