Killing Eve Season 2 Release Date Cast News Spoilers Rumors

Killing Eve, the thrilling crime drama starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer, and written by Fleabag scribe Phoebe Waller-Bridge, has its season one finale on Sunday. The BBC America show unusually boasted growing ratings every week, was a critical hit, and quickly became a viewer favorite for its dark twists, outrageously good performances, and wickedly weird humor. In Killing Eve, the spy-pursues-psychopathic-killer trope received an invigorating makeover through sloppy but passionate MI6 agent Eve (Oh) and luxury-goods fan Villanelle (Comer), who follow each other on a twisty path through murder, mutual obsession, and…shopping. Fans will be delighted to know that a second season of the show is coming—in fact, it was announced before the show even started in April. “This show has the thunder of women on both sides of the chase in Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer and, importantly, behind the camera with the lavishly brilliant Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The early response to Killing Eve has been incredible—for that reason, as well as the fact that we wholeheartedly love this original, funny, thrillingly entertaining series, we are delighted to move ahead with a second season before we even premiere,” said president of BBC America, Sarah Barnett. Even legendary director Ridley Scott is a fan.

When will it premiere?

No premiere date is set as of yet. But BBC America is excited about the show: “This show has exceeded our expectations in every possible way, and we came into it with very high expectations,” said Barnett. “From Executive Producer Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s words on the page, to the performances by Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer and the entire cast, the critical acclaim, the fan engagement and audience growth. On every level, this has been one of the ones you dream about when you get into this business and, luckily for us, the dream continues into this Sunday’s finale and a second season that is already in the works.”

Who will be in it?

The cast has not yet been announced, but presumably Sandra Oh (Eve Polastri) and Jodie Comer (Villanelle) will reprise their lead roles.

What will it be about?

Killing Eve is based on Luke Jennings’ Codename Villanelle novellas. There’s so far only one book, but the source material itself is open-ended enough for another installment. Similarly, the first season of the TV adaptation has left many threads open. Who are the mysterious Twelve who send Villanelle to do their bidding? How will Villanelle and Eve respond to each other if they meet again in future? Who is Konstantin (Kim Bodnia) really, and what is Carolyn’s (Fiona Shaw) deal? Will Eve and her husband Niko (Owen McDonnell) stay together? There is a lot to fill in. A lot.

Is there a trailer yet?

No! Boo.
