THE LOVE Wandler Hortensia trapeze bag, $752
Believe it or not, I find shopping for handbags to be a stressful proposition. I’m definitely not in a “money’s no object” state of mind and almost know about too many brands, so I often worry that I’ll make the wrong decision and then be stuck with it for life. I’ve found that trusting my gut and the OOOO HAVE TO HAVE feeling that comes when you find “the one” will never lead me down the wrong path, which is how I ended up with the Hortensia from Wandler. To put it bluntly: If loving this inanimate object is wrong, I don’t want to be right.

I discovered the brand at a Net-a-Porter presentation and instantly fell in love with the stark-white, trapeze shape. Since the brand is relatively young, I knew it wouldn’t be on the arm of every woman in NYC (another bonus!) and would be unique enough, but not so weird that I wouldn’t love it in future seasons. I’ve carried it all through winter and can’t wait to continue to rock it through spring and summer. The size is large enough to hold a makeup bag, iPad, and even a few snacks, but isn’t so cumbersome that I’d hate to have it on me in a crowded restaurant. The best thing about this bag though is the price. At under $1,000, it’s an investment bag—most are if you want quality—that’s worth skipping nights of eating out and white-wine spritzers with pals for (no entire-paycheck-committing necessary).
