“Up until this point the stakes weren’t real, now you and your kind are free.” If Westworld‘s first season asked what makes someone human, then it looks like season two will question what that humanity means. For Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood), that may require accepting herself and finding beauty in the world she lives in, while Maeve (Thandie Newton) finds purpose in tracking down her daughter.
We also see that William (Jimmi Simpson), who turned out to be a younger version of the hateful Man in Black (Ed Harris), is still very much a part of this western, though it may not be just a western anymore. Just towards the end we get our first look at Shogun World, promising more of the park’s expanding universe.
Excited yet? Just wait for the final goosebumps moment where Dolores looks Bernard (Jeffrey Wright) in the eye and asks, “Why on earth would you ever be frightened of me?” Oh, I don’t know…
Westworld returns April 22 at 8 P.M. EST on HBO.
