J. Crew is the brand that keeps on giving. After making us swoon with their first-ever lingerie launch last month, the purveyor of classic American style is revisiting the archives as inspiration for its latest collection.
Launched on March 13 is the Heritage Collection: 33 pieces plucked straight from the past. There’s the rugby shirt (1984), the chunky roll-neck sweater (1988) and the scoopback one-piece (1989). And there are more recent picks, too, like the Underwire Bikini Top (1993) and the Blythe Shirt (2011). Each piece is drenched in nostalgia and reinterpreted in modern tones. The collection spans the men’s and women’s lines; most items in the men’s collection would look great in a bulkier borrowed-from-the-boys fit.

To celebrate the Heritage collection, J.Crew also collaborated with Rowing Blazers, a recently founded line of blazers, shirts, and ties inspired by rowing culture. J.Crew lent the rugby shirt and Rowing Blazer reinterpreted with cheeky designs. The limited-edition collaboration of men’s, women’s, and children’s rugbys will be available beginning March 20 and start at $98.
While the brand is finding fresh ways to inspire your preppy wardrobe, J. Crew’s return to its past is proof that classic staples never go out of style. Now if only your mom had held onto that anorak…
