Oprah recently brought together a group of the entertainment industry’s most influential women (America Ferrera, Natalie Portman, Tracee Ellis-Ross, Reese Witherspoon, Shonda Rhimes, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, and attorney Nina Shaw) for a panel about the impact of Time’s Up. The full discussion will air on CBS’ Sunday Morning tomorrow, but CBS News has shared a preview of the powerful conversation.

“There’s moments that you have to evaluate whether silence is going to be your only option,” Witherspoon, who has opened up about being sexually assaulted by a director when she was 16, said. “And certain times that was our only option. But now is not that time.”

Witherspoon is dedicated to using her voice to make a difference for women outside of the entertainment industry as well.

“You know, we have public voices, we have resources,” she said. “But women who are workers in this country have nothing to gain in certain instances by coming forward. But we want to help. Like, it gives me strength to hopefully help other women.”

Natalie Portman summed up the need for a change in how men and women relate to one another.

“We’re humans. We’re all humans,” she said. “And I think it’s treating people as fellow humans…it’s not because you have a daughter that you respect a woman, it’s not because you have a wife or a sister. It’s because we’re human beings, whether we’re related to a man or not. We deserve the same respect.”
