At the Golden Globes on Sunday, Tatna announced that the HFPA had created two million-dollar grants to recognize the incredible work that journalists continue to do, despite renewed and ever-more-vicious attacks. The first has been made out to the Committee to Protect Journalists, which, Tatna said, “promotes global press freedom and defends the right of journalists to report the news without fear of reprisal.” The second will go to the non-profit and non-partisan Pulitzer Prize-winning International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, which “has brought to light important stories over the past two decades.”

“As artists, you bravely tell stories that enable us to see the world through the eyes of another,” Tatna said, addressing her audience. “These stories are our best hope of reflecting the kind of world we want to live in. We are privileged to share your work with the world.”
