9 Things I Wanted to Buy This Week, But Didn’t

Like many of us this January, I’m taking a bit of time off from shopping. While this is proving to be especially tricky (seeing as I’m a fashion editor), I’ve resolved that I’m cutting myself off from buying clothes and accessories for the next few months to—you guessed it!—save some cash. But since I’m only human…and “shopping” (albeit virtually) is an essential part of my job, I can’t exactly cut myself off all-together. I still need to keep up to date on what’s hitting stores—and that’s how this list came to be: A running tally of everything I’ve seen online this week that I wish I could buy, but didn’t! Aren’t you proud of me?

I recognize that I’m late to this trend, but for some reason, I really want a pair of stirrup pants…right this second. Maybe it’s because they’re merchandized with my favorite sweater on the website or maybe it’s just a hangover from my denim cleanse. Either way, this was the week I decided I need a pair of strirrup pants.

Incase you missed it, the East coast is in the midst of a “bomb cyclone,” “arctic blast,” and other apocalyptic cold-weather situations. Needless to say, this hat would come in handy at the moment.

I need these mittens (not gloves, which never keep my hands as warm) to match the trapper hat, obviously.

Towards the end of 2017, the nesties took over and I immediately felt the need to declutter every room in my apartment. It was also during this time that I decided I was in desperate need of a jewelry box. A few hours later I found this Jonathan Adler catch all—et voila! Itch, scratched. Full disclosure: I may buy this because I wouldn’t technically be breaking my fast.

You may have a lot of feelings about what brand makes the best long underwear, but as far as I’m concerned that award goes to Uniqlo. At just under $10, it’s a buy that won’t break the bank—but is all to easy to scoop up in bulk and then next thing you know you’ve spent $100. Not that I know from experience.

Now, I’m not one to impulsively buy a designer bag, but a classic, goes-with-everything Celine bag under $1,000? That’s something you snatch up, especially on a site like Fashionphile, because you’ll probably never see it again.

I have a gift card here so I could buy this shirt because I wouldn’t be spending my own money. How’s that for a loophole? Anyway, imagine it layered over a white turtleneck this winter or paired with denim shorts this summer. Cute, right?

Another piece I could buy with my gift card…and proceed to wear everyday until it gets warm outside.

I slept on buying this Chanel scarf and really regret it, so if I wasn’t fasting, you better believe I’d pull the trigger on this medallion print one. I figure I could wear it for a while and then when I stopped, frame and hang it as a piece of art in my apartment.
