The 5 Instagrams You Need to Take in Dubai

Looking for a vacation in 2018? Dubai is a great place to stop over—there’s incredible shopping and all the luxury spa treatments you could want to kick start your relaxation—or to visit all on its own. And if you go on an amazing trip but don’t post amazing Instagrams to make all of your friends back home jealous, did you even really go?

Here are the spots you’ll want to make sure to capture for maximum vacation envy:

The City Skyline: Dubai has some incredible architecture, from the sailboat-shaped Burj Al Arab, the twisting Cayan Tower, and the Princess Tower, the world’s tallest residential building. You’re going to want that cityview shot. Recommended locale: Head to the One and Only: The Palm hotel on Palm Island, a man-made island in the shape of—you guessed it—a palm tree, and take your shot of the marina skyline from there.

In the Desert: Dubai is known as the desert city, and a desert adventure is an Arabian experience you won’t want to miss when you’re there. Bonus points if you get a camel cuddle shot.

The View from the Top of the Burj Khalifa: It’s touristy, sure, but it’s also literally the tallest building in the world. How can you resist the view of the city from the 148th(!!) floor? Go outside on the observation deck for the most awe-inspiring (and potentially nausea-inspiring, depending on how you deal with heights) views.

Shopping the Souks: While much of Dubai is full of modern skyscrapers and fancy hotels, you don’t want to miss out on the old school Emirati culture. Hit the Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood for a cultural tour of Dubai’s past, and then hop across the creek on a traditional wooden abra to make your way to the souks. Among these markets, you’ll find a gold souk, a perfume souk, and a spice souk, where you can pick up saffron, dried lemons and rose petals, or the most beautiful, multi-colored garam masala. There are endless things to Instagram here, but a personal favorite? The bright, sparkly shoes.

Having a Traditional Arabian Breakfast: The Arabian Tea House is the best way to start a day in Dubai. It’s a charming, quiet little oasis that will convince you that you need to start eating hummus for breakfast every day. If you’re going to do a food Instagram, this is definitely the most picturesque table you could hope for.
