Issa Rae’s New Collection With Covergirl Will Look Great On Every Skin Color

First came the news of Issa Rae’s Covergirl contract, now the Insecure star’s first collection with the beauty giant is here. Introducing the Melting Pout Metallics, 12 liquid metallic shades that range from a rich nude accurately named “Extra” to an explosive pink called “Mic Drop.”

If you’ve been paying close attention, Rae has already debuted the new lip. The actress (producer, writer, director) wore the Metallic Pout lipstick in her Time Firsts profile. Rae was awarded the honor for being the first black woman to create and star in a premium cable series. Naturally, she grabbed the gold metallic lip from her very own Covergirl collection for the photoshoot.

Rae let us know how you can copy her everyday beauty look using the new collection. “Just day to day, I really love the pink one, the VIP,” said Rae. “It’s fun when I want something to pop, but a casual pop.”

“There has always been this thing we, dark skinned woman, can’t wear bold lips or we aren’t supposed to touch red or orange lipsticks,” Rae continues. “I definitely think that’s evolved entirely. I’ve definitely believed that for a while, but now I almost want to prove that wrong.”

The collection is now available at Covergirl’s Cyber Monday Flash sale. You can purchase the Melting Pout Metallics Lipstick for $7.99 or purchase three lipsticks for $20 and get the added bonus of free shipping. Melting Pout Metallics, as seen on Issa Rae, will be widely available starting in December.
