Riverdale season two is just getting started, but it’s already clear there might be trouble ahead for your faves Betty and Jughead. It’s been reported that a new character could come between the pair, and even Lili Reinhart (who plays Betty) told Cosmopolitan.com there’s a long road ahead for Bughead:

Having 22 episodes this season, we can really take our time and show the ups and downs and show the trials between them. You definitely, at least I do, root for them. They’re my favorite couple on the show for sure. Jughead’s joining the Serpents and Betty becomes the center of a big mystery in season two. It seems like the world wants to tear them apart a little bit and it really breaks your heart, but you hope that they find their way and they can get their footing and stay together.
But in real life, Reinhart and Cole Sprouse (who plays Jughead) seem to be doing just fine. Reinhart told Entertainment Tonight that kissing Sprouse — who’s rumored to be her off-screen boyfriend — on the show is “very comfortable at this point.” She went on to say the two “get along quite well” and that in general, kissing scenes are no big deal for the cast. Though she did admit “when new characters have to kiss, it’s a little different and you’re like, ’Oh, OK! What this?’”
While it’s to be determined what will go down between Betty and Jug, there is a new man entering Betty’s life — her mysterious brother, Chic. Reinhart told Harper’s Bazaar that this long-lost family member, played by Hart Denton, will bring a whole new dynamic to the show: “I think the Chic storyline is something that people are really going to be taken with, and see how Chic coming into Riverdale really plays a huge part in the Cooper family, and just how it affects the Cooper family is really good. It’s really juicy stuff.”
And on that note, who else is counting the days until the next episode?
