The Outlander Reunion We’ve All Been Waiting for Finally Happened

Finally! Claire gets confirmation that Jamie survived and exactly where he ended up. But should she try to find him? That would mean saying goodbye to everything she knows and loves in 1968, including her daughter Brianna. Can she really leave it all behind?

Of COURSE she can. This is Jamie we’re talking about. The game is on, friends! Here are all the feels we had while watching episode 5 of Outlander. So, so many feels.

1. Dr. Randall? More like Dr. Daredevil. It’s about time we got to see Claire really getting into her surgical work, and she’s taking a risk Joe doesn’t approve of. Of course, in the end it all worked out fine—but Joe still knows something is up with his friend.

2. Yikes, Brianna’s failing her classes. What’s going on with her? Does it have anything to do with the sudden death of her father, and the subsequent discovery that he wasn’t her father because her mother went back through time, fell in love with a giant Scotsman with a perfect butt, and conceived her with him in the 1700s? No?

3. “Fuck fate.” Joe is the BEST. Still, he’s not going to let Claire off the hook that easily without telling him what’s really going on.

4. Roger in Boston is the CUTEST EVER. And Brianna’s face when she sees him is absolutely RADIANT.

5. Claire’s hair is absolutely magnificent in this episode. That’s all.

6. Whisky count: 1.

7. Roger is a genius. ROGER IS A GENIUS. He found Jamie! He’s a regular Nancy Drew, finding that little snippet of poetry in an obscure, dusty journal. LET’S ALL KISS ROGER. Best historian in the world. THE PRINT SHOP, BABY! CLAIRE’S COMING FOR YOU….oh no, she isn’t. Claire is mad. (Give Caitriona Balfe an Emmy.) Brianna’s going through some growing pains/Discovering She’s The Child Of Time Travel Pains, and for the first time she and Claire are like a family. Earlier in the season, Claire would have done anything to find out what happened to Jamie. But now, Claire can’t leave her daughter in the midst of all this confusion. She also can’t go through that desperate hope of finding Jamie again.

8. I am loving Claire’s cat eye and cut crease. Sure, it’s no “waxed honeypot,” but it’s one of my favorite Outlander beauty details ever so far.

9. “I’ve watched you live a half life for 15 years. If you have a second chance at love, you should take it.” Joe, you old softy.

10. Brianna’s dazzling smile count: 2.

11. Brianna’s huge identity crisis is shaking everything up. She loved history because of Frank, but now that she knows her father was someone else, she’s questioning everything. (Having said that, her real father is an actual part of history…doesn’t that count?)

12. “I’ve been trying to figure out whether if I was more Randall or more Fraser. And what I realized is that I’m more you than I am either of my fathers.” A mother–daughter rapprochement, that comes only when Claire’s about to leave forever?????? CRYING COUNT: 1.

“But did they have moisturiser in the 1700s?”

13. I’m going as Brianna’s immaculate Harvard look for Halloween. And possibly every remaining day of my life. A cape! White fishnets! I want to visit 1968 immediately.

14. Excuse me, Annie Travers. Nobody asked you for your opinion.

15. “I’m all grown up, Momma. I can live on my own.” Even though they’ve never had the easiest relationship, Brianna understands Claire’s need to go back to Jamie. Plus, she has a little ace up her sleeve—if Claire doesn’t see him again, he’ll never know anything about his daughter. “You owe it to him to go back.” CRYING COUNT: FOREVER.

16. “You gave Jamie up for me. Now I have to give him back to you.” STILL CRYING.

17. Joe’s face when Claire asks him if she’s attractive, “sexually.”

18. “You’re a skinny white broad with too much hair but a great ass.” I’M SCREAMING.

19. I’m living for Claire’s sewing montage. I’m humming “Happy Working Song” right now.

20. I’m not buying that someone as gorgeous as Caitriona Balfe is looking at her reflection and thinking, “Gross.” I get that Claire’s supposed to be nervous about so much time having passed since she last saw Jamie, but come on.

21. Give Sophie Skelton’s hair an Emmy. It is a red silken curtain full of selfless love and independent defiance. It is a satin flag of emotions. It’s a waterfall of Scottish yearning and hope. Does it have a life of its own? Yes, it does. It is truly a wonder.

22. When Brianna and Claire say goodbye…Crying count: I will never stop crying ever again. Help, doctor, I need an IV, all my fluids have left my body via my eyes.

24. Wait, we didn’t even get to see the STONES???????????? Brianna didn’t get to go to the stones. Claire didn’t even go to the stones. Is it possible that the stones let fame go to their heads, demanding one million dollars, 49 turtle doves in the dressing room, and a large glass bowl of blue M&Ms only? Sheesh. Some people.

25. Gosh, it’s lucky random little children know exactly where every shop is in town. Who cares! Claire found the print shop. The sign says A. Malcolm. IT’S OUR BOY.

26. I CAN’T HANDLE THE SUSPENSE! Jamie and Claire are finally in the same time. They’re in the same place. They’re in the SAME ROOM. I can’t handle this. I’m going to do a Jamie and…
