Aerie, the cool sister of American Eagle, has been all about diversity and inclusivity for for a while now. Curve model Barbie Ferreira starred in the brand’s Aerie Real campaign back in early 2016, and as early as 2015, the brand put forth completely un-retouched ads.
This week that commitment to diversity came in a slightly skimpier form, with the brand unveiling eleven nude shades of bras and undies for the Aerie Real Me collection. Instead of “nude” secretly meaning only baby doll white, there’s now a range of tones that reflect a rainbow of melanin and pigmentation variances: Honesty is a milky cafe au lait. Strength is a rich cocoa. Valentine is a true peach.
