Earlier today New Zealand-based lingerie label Lonely released its latest Lonely Girls series portrait of Eva McGauley, a terminally ill teenager whose dying wish is to help sexual abuse victims with her charity Eva’s Wish. The ongoing journal series, published on the brand’s website, features un-retouched photos of inspiring women (Mercy Brewer, Lean Dunham, and Jemima Kirke to name a few) wearing Lonely lingerie.

In 2015, McGauley was diagnosed with a rare case of nasopharyngeal cancer, which affects the head, neck, and nasopharynx. According to the American Cancer Society, fewer than one in 100,000 people are diagnosed each year and there is no known cause.
Currently residing in Wellington, New Zealand, McGauley notes that several of her friends have been victims of sexual abuse. After witnessing the aftermath of their experiences, McGauley raised nearly $60,000 to help survivors of sexual assault and developed her own charity to create a platform for young activists. She writes on her donation page, “I’ve seen first-hand just how destructive sexual violence is. It breaks my heart to have to tell you that most of my friends have been sexually assaulted.”
Instead of meeting her favorite actress or traveling the world, McGauley wants her time on Earth to have a lasting effect. “A world where I feel safe leaving my loved ones without me being there to protect them,” she says.
Previously spotlighted for its support of women and thought-provoking ad campaigns, Lonely will be donating all profits and sales to Eva’s Wish to help McGauley in her mission to create a safer New Zealand.
